profile represented with asymmetry between both eyes, swelled eyelids inflamed eyelids and conjunctival membrane, ocular yellow to gray discharges, cloudy dull eye, blepharospasms and photosensitivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">:Clinical Signs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Blepharospasms:<\/strong> Is frequently observed as a first sign of the disease. It is caused by corneal irritation as a result of changes in the tear fluid. It may be associated with photophobia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Mucoid or mucopurulent discharge:<\/strong> In the absence of the aqueous layer of the tear film, mucoid layer of the tear film is insufficiently eliminated from the eye and can be seen dry around the palpebral rim. This is together with conjunctivitis one of the early signs of KCS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Corneal ulceration:<\/strong> Is described mainly in chronic cases where loss of epithelium occurs in the central corneal area. This condition may lead to corneal perforation and endophthalmitis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Corneal vascularization and pigmentation:<\/strong> Deepness and extent of the corneal changes correlates with the disease chronicity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Corneal xerosis and conjunctival redness:<\/strong> Dry appearance of the cornea is typical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Dry ipsilateral nostril.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" height=\"8\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Bullet1.gif\" width=\"8\"\/><strong>Chronic staphylococcus infection with good responses to antibiotics.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">:Ophthalmic examination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:7292846251044179968\">Ocular examination<\/a> showed hyperemic conjunctiva with tortuous scleral blood vessels, mucopurulent discharges, yellow crusts sticking on eye corners, opaque corneal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-With Schirmer tear test special paper inserted in the lower eyelid in the outer corner of the eye, the moisten paper height reached 10mm which was indication for eye dryness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">-Fluorescein stain was negative for corneal ulceration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">.Diagnosis directed to Keratoconjunctivitis sicca.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eye cytology, culture and sensitivity was recommended characterizing bacterial infection and appropriate antibiotic ttt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:7272221129845448704\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Keratoconjunctivitis sicca,KCS,eye,ophthalmology,Ocular\" src=\"https:\/\/drpaws.com.eg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/kjn-1.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">: <strong>Treatment<\/strong> plan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">:Treatment plan for Keratoconjunctivitis sicca included in<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">.
